Hip Hip Hooray for the 100 Day!

on Mon, 03/05/2012 - 01:08

Our 100th Day Celebration began with the 100th Day Poster Parade! We enjoyed a busy day filled with activities centered around the # 100. We magically changed 100 pennies into a dollar bill, we took 100 step walk, wrote in our journals, made comparisons of size with our 100th Day collections, used coins to play the “Race to a Dollar” game and counted to 100 by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, 10’s, 25’s & 50’s. Our 100th Day mix was yummy! Click here to view photos.

A Busy Day at the Post Office

on Mon, 03/05/2012 - 01:07

We used our Valentines to learn how letters travel through the working Post Office in the classroom. The children took turns experiencing each job: they picked up & delivered the mail to the Post Office, faced the envelopes, canceled the stamps, sorted the mail into three routes and delivered it to the individual mailboxes. The skills developed were real and usable: matching & sorting numbers, practicing our addresses, counting coins to purchase a stamp and finding the upper right hand corner to place the stamp.
After a busy day working at the Post Office, we enjoyed a fun party filled with many Valentine treats. Thank you, everyone, for making our party a success! Click here to view photos from the Valentine's Party. Post Office photos coming soon.
